The New Draftbeer Initiative

The new Draftbeer Initiative!

A few months ago, I created a blog account through WordPress.com to post some of my work as well as to advertise the stuff that I sell over at GraphicRiver. Occasionally I would post some articles that may or may not be related to my line of work. I used one of the free themes that are available, and since it was just a free WordPress account, there wasn’t much to customize on the theme that I used. The layout was somewhat cluttered, and the content was disorganized. But mediocre as it seemed, it served well it’s purpose. Well, perhaps more! Since a few weeks after it was launched, I got messages from potential clients. Some of them knew about the site because of GraphicRiver, some of them just came across it through google or WordPress.com. I’ve never really given freelancing a thought, but since then, a door of opportunity opened for me. Because of that, I’ve realized the value of having a website. And so, now I felt like it’s about time that I should improve my website a little bit. Hence the website redesign!

What’s New?

New Look

Of course, the first thing you might noticed that changed around here (if you’ve visited my website before) is the new look. I wanted the focus to be shifted over to content and made the design more simple and yet still has a touch of elegance.

More Organized

I might decide to post more content in the coming days and that this website might become something more than just my portfolio website, so I’ve moved things a bit to make it less cluttered and more organized.

I’ve given the Portfolio section a bit of a structure, categorizing stuff so that they’ll be easier to find, and visitors like you would know where to go.

A more comprehensive information can be found in the About section where you could learn more about what I do and what I could do for you (with the skill set outlined in that section), as well as my work philosophy.

I’ve also put up a FAQ section to answer some of the most important questions in a potential client’s mind about hiring me as a designer. Questions relating to pricing, services I offer, timeframe, etc. For everything else, you can go to the Contact section where I have posted some information on how you could reach me.

2 Hot new items now on sale at GraphicRiver!

Finally after almost a week of waiting, two of my items got approved and now currently on sale at GR! The first one is the assorted all-purpose banner ad templates. I created a banner ad template set to hopefully add to GR’s plethora of brilliantly designed banner ad templates. But I wanted to create variety that goes beyond color theme variations. So I limited myself to two color themes, yellow and gray but I varied added more size variations as well as variations in layout and style. I also made it a point not to use dummy text on any of the sample banner ads because I wanted potential buyers to not only buy the templates for their designs but for the idea i also put into them. Selling banner ad templates should not only mean selling quality graphics, but also mean selling ideas! If you want to know more about this item, just click the image below.

The other item recently uploaded on GR is the Glossy & Crisp premium web 2.0 download buttons. Now creating this set was really tricky since there are also a plethora of buttons in GR and some of the designs or styles are repetitive. It’s a real challenge coming up with something that will stand out from the crowd while also not deviating from the trend. So I came up with something glossy and vibrant but has really crisp and uncluttered design elements. Again, if you want to know more about this item, just click the image below.

Glossy 3D Text Pack Volume 2

I’ve recently uploaded my 2nd set of glossy 3d text to GraphicRiver. I used the BAUHAUS font for this one. As with the first volume, it includes 8 sets of letters A-Z, a-z and numbers 0-9 rendered from 8 camera angles. It includes PNGs and customizable PSDs. Images were rendered from the same camera angles as with the 1st volume.

Here’s a sample artwork that I came up with using this set of 3d text.

You might be wondering what’s inside this package. So, here’s a preview.

PNGs

PNGs

As I have mentioned this package includes PNGs and PSDs. There are 4 PNG images for each letter. 2 PNG images for the capital letter A, that would be for both the 3D image and the 2D letter face. And another 2 PNG images for the lower caps letter a (3d and 2d). I have rendered both the 3d letter and the 2d letter face so that you can both import them into photoshop and create individual designs for both the letter face and the 3d block.

For your convenience I have included PSDs which already contain both the 3d block and the letter face and additional layers that you could readily customize. Here’s a sneak peek of the A.psd document included in this package.

A.psd document

A.psd document

As shown on the screenshot, we have the letter’s 3d block (layer 1) and the letter face (layer 2) included in the A.psd file. Layer 4 is the color layer that i’ve added to give the 3d block color. You can modify this by adding a layer style to it and add fancy styles, effects or elaborate patterns or you could adjust the hue/saturation setting to change its color.

I’ll be uploading new sets in the coming days.

Since there wasn’t enough space in graphic river to show you a more detailed preview, so here it is.

Create your very own stunning 3d text art!

We see it a lot. It’s quite popular in the graphic design world. It’s perfect blend of complexity and simplicity never goes out of trend. I’m talking about typography artworks. There’s a related blog post at GraphicRiver.com that showcased 10 beautiful examples of typography art. One of those that really catches my attention, and I’m pretty sure catches yours too are those fancy and colorful 3d text art such as the one you see below.

3d text art

What’s so nice about 3d text is that it works well with swirls that are also popular now-a-days. 3d text also looks good even with vintage styles. Now I know that not all of us artists can afford those costly 3d software, even so, not all of us has the time to learn 3d just to come up with those fancy 3d text art. Plus, you’d have to use powerful computers to render 3d in the shortest possible time. And so, I’ve decided to come up with a set of glossy 3d letters and sell it to GraphicRiver. So that you guys can just focus more on the artistic aspect and come up with your own stunning 3d text art in photoshop or illustrator! 3d text art without the hassle!

I’ve included the hi-res 800×600 images of letters a-z both upper case and lower case letters and number 0-9 in PNG lossless file format. I’ve also included PSDs of each letters, that are all ready to be customized for convenience. It includes over 400 files that you could use to come up with your own 3d text art. Below are samples of the letters included in this package. If you click the image, you would see the actual sizes of the letters.

This package doesn’t only include rendered 3d images of letters from 1 camera angle. I rendered the letters from 8 different camera angles!

Letters rendered from 8 diffrent camera angles

This package includes over 400 PSD and PNG files that you could use to create your own 3d text art. There are vast possibilities so hop right on to your workstations, fire up your favorite image editors and put your creative genius to work! Below is my sample artwork using this 3d text package.

Generate 3D Boxes within Photoshop with the 3DBoxGen Action & Template Set

It’s not easy coming up with ideas for products that we could sell in market places like GraphicRiver, ThemeForest or FlashDen. And it’s not easy coming up with ideas on how to create previews that will make our products get the attention it deserves. In a huge marketplace like Envato, previews SHOULD stand out and should be well presented. One of the common ways you can use to present your products is by creating a 3d box mockup. But most of us (myself included) wants to focus more on the more important things like brainstorming for a new business card template design, or designing fancy icons. Spending time to create 3d boxes is a luxury most of us artist just don’t have. So, I thought about creating a PS action to generate these boxes out from a flat template, that is convenient, fast, re-usable and only takes one click of a button. And so, I came up with 3DBoxGen.

Click here to see item at GraphicRiver

I’ve included 5 templates that are easy to modify, all pre-designed and ready to go for people who wants to quickly come up with their own 3d boxes. It also has a detailed user guide and quick start guide for people who wants to really start designing 3d boxes from scratch.

I would be uploading tutorials on how to create 3d boxes using the 3dBoxGen action & template set soon. And I would also be uploading FREE TEMPLATES for those who purchased 3dBoxGen from GraphicRiver.
